Local brewer Andrew Harris from Old Coast Road Brewery took off a significant trophy at the 2011 Perth Royal Beer Show.
The award was presented at the Official Dinner held at the Mercure Hotel in Perth last Friday night. The award was for best Wheat beer and was among three other medals also won by Old Coast Rd Brewery on the night.
“I was absolutely stunned to win the trophy”, said brewer Andrew Harris. “In the three and a half years we have been open we have won quite a few medals, but this is definitely the most prestigious award we have ever taken out. When you beat an established brand like Redback in the State Awards, it’s great confidence boost for a microbrewery like ours. All of our four beers won medals so we know that we are brewing consistently top quality beer across our full range”, he said.
Mr Harris will aim to win more medals and trophies in the coming years in order to further the name of the brewery and establish themselves in the competitive beer market. Next year they will enter the International awards held in Melbourne.
